Biographies SHORT VERSION British-Canadian mezzo-soprano Patricia Hammond studied
singing in Canada and Switzerland before moving to the UK in 2001. She has appeared
as an oratorio soloist in venues as varied as Leeds Town Hall, the Herodus Atticus
Theatre in Athens, the Concertgebouw at Bruges, and London's Queen Elizabeth and
Royal Festival Halls; the latter two with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
under Ivan Fischer and Sir Simon Rattle respectively. Most recently she was featured
in the duet of the Houris in Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri in London, Paris,
Turin and Budapest with the OAE under Sir Simon Rattle. As a recitalist, Patricia
has been invited to perform at the Brighton, Deal and Frome Festivals, the Swiss
Global Foundation and Opera Omnibus, as well as in many private venues including
the home of the actor Tom Conti. In Opera, she has performed solo roles at
the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the Wexford Festival. Patricia
works regularly with Martin Knizia's Baroque group, the Sweelinck Ensemble, and
has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and BBC4 Television's "The World,"
in an interview with Kirsty Lang. Her CD "Le Charme," of French Salon
song, is available in shops and online, or from the artist herself! LONGER
VERSION PATRICIA HAMMOND studied singing in Vancouver and
Switzerland before moving to London in 2001, using the flexibility of her British
and Canadian nationality. Now she studies with Kari Lovaas in Schaffhausen, hopping
back and forth between London and Switzerland. She has performed as a recitalist
in Canada, the US, Switzerland, Great Britain and the Channel Islands, and in
numerous festivals including the Brighton, Deal and Frome Festivals, the Swiss
Global Foundation (www.swissglobal.org)
and Opera Omnibus. She was invited by Tom Conti to perform at the Wabe in Hampstead,
and also has collaborated with such personalities as John Julius Norwich and James
Grout. Patricia is in increasing demand as a soloist in oratorio, appearing in

include a recital disc of the songs of British composer Michael Brough. In August
